Qigong

Instructor: Stan Rockwell – certified Tai Chi for Diabetes and Tai for Arthritis instructor by the Tai Chi for Health Institute

Qi means energy and gong means work. At one time qigong was called Taoist yoga. There are internal and external forms. Qigong has been around for thousands of years. You will notice that, like taijiquan, a form may be done in several different ways. For example, if you look up Eight Pieces of Brocade, you will see that it does not always look the same. People learn and adapt forms. Dr. Yang Yang tells a joke about how many taiji players it takes to change a light bulb. The answer is 100 - one to change the bulb and 99 to talk about how that is not they way they do it in their form and family. Remember that in internal martial arts, the flexible and soft overcome the rigid and hard. You find balance and harmony within yourself and the world around you. It is better to learn from differences than to judge and reject dogmatically.
